EDA's Inaugural Blog Post!
Hello, friends and neighbors!
We are excited to begin blogging here at EDA! We want to be able to share what’s going on behind the scenes - in the kitchen, behind the bar, or what we’ve got planned next! We hope we can use this platform as a way to get to know our customers, too!
Like everyone else, COVID-19 has affected our business: how we run our kitchen, our menu items, you name it! We, like everyone else, has had to adjust a bit, but we are excited to say we have adapted, adjusted and are excited for this new chapter, even if it looks a bit different than we imagined. We also want to hear from you! What are you looking to see, what do you want to eat, or drink, or enjoy with us?
So, as our inaugural post here, we wanted to talk about what we’ve been up to and what you might have missed if you’ve been keeping safe at home. We’re excited to keep evolving - we all have to roll with the punches - and growing.
So - what’s new?! For us, a few things:
For starters, we’ve opened up an outdoor patio! Our parking area doesn’t look like it used to: we’ve set up dining tables and chairs, made some shade, and are working with the city to expand further into the sidewalk in front of our building! With additional seating, we can welcome more of our friends for a beer, a meal, or maybe some outdoor social distanced celebrations in the future!
With the addition of outside space, our staff has been working so hard to keep everything clean, sanitized, and ready to host our walk-up customers. Next time you stop by EDA, don’t forget to say ‘thank you’ to our hardworking staff! They are the reason we’ve managed to adapt and still succeed in these crazy times.
Our patio is open daily from open to close; we’ve grown to see it as a little oasis in the Arts District! Stop by and enjoy a round of cocktails or spend your lunch break soaking up some Vitamin D with your meal! We’ve all been starved for a little social interaction, so this way we can safely see old friends, regulars, and meet new customers! We hope you can enjoy it as much as we have been.
Second, we’ve had to make some adjustments to our menus. Aside from scaling back on what we offer temporarily, we’ve also added quite a few items, especially from behind the bar! We’ve kept our most popular dishes -- our baguettes, a few flatbreads, our soups, salads, and a few entrees; while we want to keep everything on our menu, due to limitations in our back of house, until we return to dine-in service (whenever that will be) we will have to keep our menu pared back until we’re back up and running full speed. We hope everyone can understand!
But on to good news! Due to popular demand, we’ve added batched cocktails to our cocktail lineup. We’ve got some classics (Margaritas, Bloody Mary’s, Old Fashioneds, Negronis, and Paper Planes) and some of our originals (the Gold Rush, our Hibiscus Margarita, Irish Summer, and Tropical Jewel) are now available in multiple servings -- just add ice! We hope you enjoy them, we’ve had a great time making them!
We’ve also been working on a Wine Box project, which we launched a few weeks ago! For $79, you receive 6 bottles of wine from our stock. Each vintage is handpicked by our wine aficionado owners Angelina and Michael. Each box is filled with 2 reds, 2 whites, and 2 rosés, valued at over $120! We want you to get your money’s worth, so all of our selections are high quality, delicious bottles, straight from behind the bar. It’s available for purchase on Chownow or Grubhub. If you’re looking for less quantity, we’ve also got single bottles available on each platform, as well.
We also launched a new, weekends-only cocktail! Our Hibiscus Margarita Slushy is now available Saturdays and Sundays only. It’s delicious (trust us, you’ll get hooked!) and a great way to cool down on a Saturday or Sunday afternoon. For those who prefer no hibiscus flavor, we can make a classic Frozen Margarita, as well. It’s the perfect way to beat this heat wave coming up! What’s better than cold margarita slushies on a patio?
Because you’re not here to sit at the bar and enjoy some drinks with us in person, we’ve started offering bottles of our favorite liquor to purchase - if you can’t drink them here, you might as well enjoy your favorite EDA cocktails at home! Our offerings are changing, so if you’re interested in improving your home bartender skills (how else will you spend all that extra time?!) we can help with that! Give us a call to hear our bottle offerings and to purchase. We’re working on getting them up for sale online, but until then one of our friendly EDA team can help!
Even though we’re still in the throes of COVID-19, we still want to have a reason to celebrate! We’re brainstorming now on ways we can safely incorporate more happiness into the everyday grind… We miss our gypsy jazz Music Mondays with Rooftop Revival, we miss seeing our friends for cocktails, we miss catering parties! At our heart, Eat Drink Americano is a gathering place to celebrate, relax, and have a great time. We don’t want that to change, and we don’t want COVID-19 to ruin what we’re here for.
As Summer goes by, and Fall is approaching, we want to celebrate the every day with you: the little celebrations, the joys that come from unexpected places. How can we do that? We’re working on it, but we’d love to hear your ideas!
Whether it’s a Labor Day barbeque, or an outdoor concert from our musician friends, we’re wanting to keep your (and our) spirits up!
We’re looking to build out more menu specials in the upcoming months, so we’d love to hear what you’re craving! What would you like to see from EDA? We’re all ears, please let us know!
Until next week!
